Measure A

by datkins on September 17, 2009

“Shall Ventura adopt a one-half percent sales tax ordinance to expire automatically in four years, with all the money staying local in Ventura, to preserve essential general fund services, such as police, fire and emergency response and provide additional funding for other priorities, including street repair, keeping Wright Library open and protecting local beaches from pollution, with a Citizen’s Oversight Committee, mandatory audits and quarterly reports to the Council on how the money is spent?”

Protect, Preserve and Maintain Ventura

by Yes on Measure A on September 16, 2009

The state and national economic downturn has affected all of our lives. Business are struggling, employees are being laid off, vital city services are being cut.

Fortunately, Measure A provides a solution for Venturans to protect their community. Measure A will be on the ballot in November and is a half cent local sales tax increase that will allow the city to preserve Ventura’s quality of life – safer streets by supporting law enforcement, better roads through maintenance and repair work and important facilities that define our city — like the Wright Library — which will close without Measure A funds.

Measure A revenue will be protected from politicians in Sacramento who, to fix the state’s budget problems, have taken funds that our city had counted on. 100% of Measure A funds will be spent on Ventura’s local infrastructure and services.

Vote YES to protect, preserve and maintain Ventura’s future – keep local dollars local.

  • YES ON A to keep Wright Library open
  • YES ON A to restore Roving Medic Engine 10, police gang prevention unit, downtown foot patrols and maintain public safety
  • YES ON A to maintain and improve streets and parks throughout the city
